They say the issue will arrive on stands on February 8th, 2005, and that PC Gamer says TES4: Oblivion "offers a new hope for the RPG, and may well signal the arrival of the next sea change in the genre."

Oblivion in Gamespot's most anticipated games of 2005

Over at Gamespot, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion has made it into Gamespot's most anticipated games of 2005 article. Here's a quote:
"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is indeed on its way, and hopefully it'll hit before too long (though, needless to say, the good people at Bethesda should take all the time they need to do this one right). One look at the screenshots for the game and the scope and ambition behind the project become apparent. And that scope and ambition are tremendous. We're talking an absolutely huge, open-ended world to explore, but one that's incredibly rich with detail around every corner, and one in which there's an entire population of lifelike characters to interact with in any way you wish. The Elder Scrolls series has always been this sort of fantasy-themed sandbox, and when you get swept up in it all, it can be really amazing." Be sure to give the entire article a read. |

Release rumours
Tue, 18 Jan 2005 22:46:37 +0000

Several Oblivion fansites have been marching around behind Game Informer's so-called "release date" to quote:
Name: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Platform: PC Genre: Action Publisher: Bethesda Softworks Developer: Zenimax Release Date: 12/15/2005 (15th of December) ESRB: Rating Pending Where to even start with this? No piece of software can have it's release date estimated to this kind of degree, even more so with something as complex as Oblivion, unless we go into the realm of the cutting tool. So this is completely made up by Game Informer. Secondly, genre: action...? Okay... Thirdly, they quote the developer of Oblivion as Zenimax - wrong Bethesda is the developer and the publisher, Zenimax is the parent company. |
